A customer looking for move-out cleaning usually has three quotes within a few hundred kronor of each other. What decides it is rarely the lowest figure, but whether there is something in the inbox to show the landlord or the estate agent once the inspection is done. A confirmation that states the guarantee in plain words — what is included, how many days you will come back, and what it costs the customer — is the one thing the other firm did not send. Does move-out cleaning qualify for RUT?
Yes, 50 per cent of the labour cost — and with move-out cleaning practically the whole price is labour. Cleaning products, equipment hire and call-out charges are not labour and belong on their own lines outside the deduction.
Who gets the deduction — the one moving out or the one moving in?
Whoever orders and pays for the service. If the landlord, the estate agent or a company places the order there is no private individual in the deal and therefore no deduction — in that case the price must be shown without RUT from the start.
How should I handle estate cleaning after a death?
An estate is not the same buyer as a private individual, and the deduction depends on who orders and who pays. Settle it before the job, not on the invoice: in Buzzlink you switch the deduction off on that single booking, so the price the customer sees is the one that applies.
Is post-construction cleaning RUT or ROT?
Cleaning is always RUT, never ROT, even when it follows building work. RUT gives 50 per cent of the labour cost; ROT is 30 per cent in 2026, down from the temporary 50 per cent that ran from 12 May to 31 December 2025. If the building firm places the order it is a business purchase with no deduction at all.
The customer renovated this year — does that matter?
Yes, and it is the most common shock in this trade. RUT and ROT share 75 000 kr per person per year, of which at most 50 000 kr may be ROT — so a bathroom can have eaten the allowance before the cleaning was even booked. If the ceiling is used up, Skatteverket pays nothing and you have to chase the customer. Buzzlink asks how much is used before the booking goes through.
